FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Students will report to the auditorium upon arrival on September 1, for our annual opening day assembly. After the assembly, students in grades 10 and 11 will report to shop and should be dressed accordingly. Students in grades 9 and 12 will receive their academic schedules at this time and report to their first period class. Parents dropping off students should do so at the front entrance of the school. The first bell rings at 7:15 a.m. and the students are required to be in the auditorium by 7:19 a.m.
WTA Girls Soccer try-outs continue this week on August 31 and September 1 from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Please contact Coach Washington for more information.
WTA Boys Varsity Soccer try-outs will continue this week on August 31 and September 1 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please contact Coach Dulude for more information.
WTA students interested in joining our new Cross Country team should report to the gym at 2:30pm on August 31. Please contact Coach Figy for more information.
The WTA Golf team will have it's first practice on September
1 at East Mountain Country Club after school. Please see Coach Nadeau

FRESHMEN and NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the year for our new students, freshmen orientation will be held on Thursday, September 3. We will begin at 5:00 pm in the cafeteria with a complimentary cookout for new students and their families. If you are new to WTA, PLEASE RSVP WITH THE NUMBER OF YOUR FAMILY ATTENDING by contacting Ms. Kelly Liptak in the Main Office at 413-572-6533 or e-mailing the principal at firstname.lastname@example.org. We want to make sure that we have enough hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. After the cookout, parents and students will meet with the administrative team, guidance counselors, and teachers.
Cookout/Barbecue 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Orientation/Tours 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Open House will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Parents will follow their child’s school schedule for the evening. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 30 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
DUAL ENROLLMENT WITH WESTFIELD STATE UNIVERSITY
Westfield Technical Academy is happy to announce the continued availability of dual enrollment coursework with Westfield State University for the Fall of 2015. The next class to be offered for college credit is Psychology. The course will be held at WTA on Monday's from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and is open to juniors and seniors. This class is free to WTA students. If any student is interested in signing up to take this class, please see Mrs. Bean or Mrs. Arvanites in Student Services.

WAR OF THE WORLDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
Thursday evening, October 22 at 7:00 p.m., take a trip back to the Golden Age of Radio as Westfield State University’s WSKB 89.5FM presents an adaptation of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds live on the stage of the Westfield Technical Academy auditorium.
Featured on stage will be personalities from WSKB as well as a few surprise local celebrity cameos.
Musical guests will include the Westfield High School Jazz Band under the direction of Patrick Kennedy and The Whip City Band.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Proceeds to benefit the WHS Band and the Whip City Band.
