November 2018

Hello WTA Family!

Well, it’s November, and, as I look out my window onto Smith Avenue, I can say that the colors of autumn are truly magnificent!

November is shaping up to be a very busy month here at the Academy.  Two events, in particular, come to mind:

  • On Thursday evening, November 1, we will be holding our first annual Joint Technical Open House from 6:00 to 8:00.  This is an opportunity for our entire community—but especially our friends in Grade 8 who are considering applying for admission to WTA—to take a closer look at our 12 technical programs and talk to our program and academic instructors and students.

  • As we did last year, we will host another Thanksgiving Food Drive on Tuesday, November 20, which will include a live broadcast of WSKB 89.5 Community Radio from Tiger’s Pride.  Be sure to tune in from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.! Rumor has it that Superintendent Czap and Chris Rogers might be joining Rob Ollari and me for a mega-show that morning. Must hear entertainment for sure!

Please remember that there will be no school for students on the following days:

  • Tuesday, November 6:  District –Wide Professional Development Day for Teachers

  • Monday, November 12:  Veterans Day

  • Wednesday, November 21 to Friday, November 23:  Thanksgiving Recess

In closing—in advance of Veterans Day--I want to personally thank all of our active duty, reserve, and retired military personnel for your loyal and devoted service to our country.  God bless you for your courage and generosity! I also want to extend to everyone my sincerest best wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday! Thanksgiving is our annual opportunity as a nation to adopt an “attitude of gratitude” for all of the blessings we have received—and continue to receive each and every day.  In that spirit of gratitude, let’s take advantage of every opportunity we can to share those blessings with those who are less fortunate and in need.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving, and, as always, please know how grateful I am for all that you do on behalf of WTA!

Regards,

Joe Langone
