October 2017

Hello WTA Family!

It’s been something of a whirlwind, but we’re already five weeks deep into the 2017-2018 school year, and, all around, it’s been a fantastic start.  In particular, our new freshmen, the Class of 2021, have fallen into the new routine of high school life and their exploratory rotations like veterans.  And a number of our seniors are already out on Co-Op. Congratulations on a job very well done!

October is shaping up to be a VERY busy month at WTA!  On Monday, October 2, our student representatives will give their first presentation of the year to the Westfield School Committee on recent happenings at WTA.  On Wednesday, October 6, Chuck Jendrysik, Principal of Westfield High School, and I will be meeting with the Deans of the Allied Health Sciences and Precision Manufacturing Departments of STCC to discuss potential dual-enrollment and career pathway partnerships for all our students. On Wednesday, October 25, Tischman-AECOM Corporation will lead the first of four contingents from our Construction Technology Department on a site visit of the MGM Property in Springfield’s South End.  And on Friday, October 27, we will hold our school-wide “Community of Readers” event in support of the Westfield Public Schools District Literacy Plan and Goals.

In closing, I encourage everyone in the WTA Family to tune into “Tiger Talk:  The Rob and Joe Show” each Thursday morning at 8:00 on 89.5 WSKB FM Radio for news of all things WTA.  Remember, “You’re in the flow with Rob and Joe!”  Also, our very own Tiger’s Pride Restaurant will tentatively open for the 2017-2018 School Year on Wednesday, October 4.  You can check for updates and access the menu here on the WTA Website or on the Tiger’s Pride Facebook Page.

And, as always, please know how grateful I am for all that you do on behalf of WTA!

Best Regards,
Joe Langone
